An appeal's been lodged against the approval of a significant housing project in Oranmore.
Last month, county planners approved more than 200 new homes on a site off the Coast Road.
But An Taisce has now appealed that decision to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
This project led by Corestone 16 involves 209 units in a mix of duplexes and houses, the majority being three or four bed units.
An Taisce welcomed the plan, particularly recognising it's location right beside Oranmore Train Station.
But it did also highlight some concerns that it felt had not been sufficiently addressed.
The first was a potential risk of flooding to the homes over their lifetime, due to rising sea levels and storm surges.
The second was insufficient capacity in Galway's wastewater collecting system and existing frequent discharges of polluting matter into Galway Bay.
An appeal is now with An Coimisiún Pleanála with a decision expected by the end of July.
