Approval for first permanent Park and Ride in Galway City

The green light has been given for the first ever permanent Park and Ride facility in Galway City.

The 176 car development, overseen by the National Transport Authority, would be based at Cappagh Road in Knocknacarra.

The Cappgh Road/Western Distributor Road roundabout will be slightly redeveloped, with a new exit to provide direct entry to the Park and Ride.

There has been some concern over how effective this facility will be, due to the lack of dedicated bus lanes.
