Approval has been granted for a long-awaited new pedestrian footbridge in Oughterard.
The bridge over the Owenriff River has been planned for decades, to take pedestrians - including schoolchildren - off the heavily trafficked and narrow bridge on the N59.
But it's stalled repeatedly over the past 20 years due to a range of environmental issues, such as the presence of the Pearl Mussel.
After months of deliberation, An Coimisiún Pleanála has now ruled this latest version of the project can go ahead.
Local Independent Councillor Tom Welby has been speaking to David Nevin about what happens next.
