April report shows rain was more prevalent than previous years especially in the West

The latest report from Met Eireann confirms that rainfall was more prevalent this April than previous years, particularly in the west.

However provisional climate figures for last month show sunshine was above average in most places.

The highest temperature recorded was also in the West, slightly over 21 degrees in Claremorris in Mayo.

The average temperature recorded nationally last month was just below 9-point-7 degrees.
