Aran Islands RNLI have been involved in a rescue off the coast of Straw Island following reports that a person had separated from friends and had failed to return.
The request to launch by Valentia Coast Guard happened yesterday at 4.46 and the Aran Islands lifeboat was launched from Kilronan Harbour and following a search, found the casualty approximately 700 metres from Straw Island.
Once onboard the casualty was assessed, and a decision was made to winch them from the lifeboat onto the Rescue 115 Helicopter who airlifted the casualty to hospital for further examination.
