The Arts Council is to support 16 festivals across Galway this year, totaling 2.2 million euro.
The grants range from 3,000 euro for Inishbofin Set Dancing & Trad Weekend to just under a million euro for the Galway Arts Festival.
The Galway allocation of just over 2.2 million euro forms part of a national allocation of 14.7 million which is the Arts Council's largest ever investment in festivals.
Approximately 80% of programming across the supported festivals is free to attend, making these events accessible to a wide audience and particularly to families.
The Arts Council says the economic impact of the festival sector is also considerable.
Included in the Galway allocations are Baboró International Arts Festival for Children €438,000 / Galway Film Fleadh €150,000 / Clifden Community Arts Week €135,000 / Cuirt International Festival of Literature €132,000 /Tulca €130,000 and Architecture at the Edge €100,000
