A Galway West bye-election debate on Galway's traffic crisis will take place this month. (15/2)
It's organised by Galway City Community Network in partnership with a range of local stakeholders.
The population of Galway City is expected to reach 120 thousand by 2040, bringing with it thousands of new jobs and even more homes.
But without mass transit, activists say, that growth will not materialise - and there needs to be ambition, vision and courage to ensure it does.
They point to improved public transport, a light rail system, and a redesigned road network that fairly accommodates pedestrians and cyclists of all ages.
This debate is billed as offering the 12 candidates contesting the upcoming bye-election a chance to deliver their vision for transformation to voters.
It takes place at the Park House Hotel on Wednesday April 15th at 7pm.
