A call has been made for 'clarity and fairness' on state regulation requirements for Seaweed harvesters in Connemara.

On monday, a meeting took place between several hundred harvesters and public representatives from Independent Ireland.

Concerns were raised about the registration and licensing process for small scale operators.

Indpendent Ireland Connemara Councillor Noel Thomas is looking for a clear and workable system to register with Mara, the State maritime authority.

He says that harvesters are not getting there fair share of profits.
