There is a call for a dedicated school bus service from the East Side of Galway city to schools in Claregalway and Athenry.
Local Fianna Fáil councillor Alan Cheevers says that parents from areas such as Roscam, Doughiska and Ballybrit have raised issues with the cost of private bus services .
He says some families are currently paying up to €35 per week per child for trasnport to these schools.
Cllr Cheevers, who has raised the issue with Minister of State for education Michael Moynihan, says that the bus service is badly needed
