Call for dedicated 'teen-space' in Knocknacarra

A call has been made for a dedicated 'teen-space' in Knocknacarra to provide teenagers with a way to stay active and socialise.

The issue was raised by Social Democrats Councillor Alan Curran, who says that there's nowhere for teenagers to go in Galway City where they can feel safe and have fun.

He is seeking a commitment from the City Council executive to include the teen-space in the 2027 work programme.

The proposed space would be located in McGrath's field, with Cllr Curran willing to pledge 30 thousand euro towards the project.

Cllr Curran says that teen-spaces in other areas of the city have been highly effective.
