The Taoiseach and Transport Minister are being urged to get involved, as judicial review proceedings are being taken against approval for the Galway Ring Road.
Galway West TD John Connolly says although disappointing, people are entitled to take such action and this review is not unexpected.
The action is being taken by well-known surgeon and cancer expert Professor Michael Kerins and his wife, whose home is affected by the planned route.
The current version of the project would run from the M6 motorway on the east side of the city to the west of Barna village.
