Call for urgent review of parking machines across city in light of new scam using fake QR codes

There's a call for an urgent review of all parking machines across the city in light of a new scam that uses fake QR codes.

Scammers placed fake QR codes on council operated parking meters in Dublin and Wicklow that redirects users to a convincing, but fake payment website.

They are in effect providing their full credit or debit card details to scammers.

Councillor Niall McNelis says there's a simple way to spot a scam - Galway City Council has never used QR codes on its machines.
