Cameras have been touted as the solution to motorists clogging up yellow boxes in Galway city junctions.
Independent city councillor Declan McDonnell has raised the issue of motorists blocking busy junctions in the city at City Hall.
He says that key junctions at Moneenageisha, Duggans in Renmore and outside the Galway Hospice, are 'filling up with cars' every day at rush hour.
Altough not common in Ireland, he has suggested that piloting a system that detects and fines drivers encroaching on yellow boxes could be the solution to Galways traffic woes.
