Fórsa members working as perfusionists at University Hospital will commence industrial action today and picket outside the facility.
The union says the dispute arises from the HSE’s decision to break a long-standing pay link between perfusionists and medical scientists, and its subsequent refusal to implement a Labour Court recommendation.
Perfusionists are highly specialised cardiovascular professionals who play a critical role in life-saving cardiac and complex surgical procedures.
A total of 25 will take part in today's industrial action, across five hospital sites including UHG.
