CCTV to monitor litter blackspots around the county will be rolled out within the next couple of weeks.

That's according to an update given to local councillors at County Hall this week, with confirmation that the system is almost ready to go.

Ballinasloe Councillor Alan Harney raised the issue, saying it feels like Galway is lagging behind other local authorities in the rollout of public CCTV

Speaking to our reporter Sarah Slevin, Cllr Harney says it's positive things are moving forward from a litter point of view, but progress also needs to be made on the anti-social behaviour side
