Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly has been elected as a full voting member to the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Midlands-Northwest MEP had previously been serving on the committee as a substitute member with limited voting rights.
A vote of the Renew Europe parliamentary group to appoint a permanent committee member was held, with MEP Mullooly winning 41 votes out of 67
He sought off challenges from Belgian MEP Benoit Cassart and Fianna Fáil MEP for Ireland South Cynthia Ní Mhurchú.
Speaking on Galway Talks, he says that securing the future of Galway farmers will be 'a top priority'.
