A community support walk for a free shingles vaccine for older people and those who are immunocompromised is to take place in Galway city tomorrow
The campaign group says many people are being priced out of access to the 500 euro vaccine, despite the serious pain and long-term complications shingles can cause
The event forms part of a wider national campaign by Active Retirement Ireland, whose petition has gathered over 23,000 thousand signatures .
Gerri Gavin from the Knocknacarra Group says Ireland is an outlier in not providing the vaccine for free
Tomorrow's walk starts out from the Claddagh Hall at 11am, finishing at the Circle of Life Garden in Salthill
Active Retirement groups from across Galway expected to attend
Gerri Gavin says this will be an old-style campaign march which will combine noise and fun to raise awareness of an important preventative healthcare issue
