City Council launches report on project to support Traveller tenants

Galway City Council has launched a report on a pilot project to better support tenants in Traveller-specific accommodation.

The pilot was carried out at Bóithrín na Saoirse at Circular Road and aims to support greater tenant participation in their homes and local communities.

The local authority says this project could benefit up to 90 families living in Traveller-specific accommodation across the city.

It adds that a practical, culturally responsible approach leads to positive outcomes for tenants and the local authority.

The report was prepared by Professor Padraic Kenna at University of Galway, working with a wide range of advocacy groups and local stakeholders.
