Galway city has a below average retention rate for Leaving Cert completion, while the county is above average.
The retention rate for schools in the city is 87.5 percent, while in the county it's 91.4 percent.
On average, nine in 10 secondary school students are now completing the Leaving Cert - with Ireland having the second highest retention rate in the EU behind Croatia
Meath had the highest retention rate, while Roscommon had the lowest.
