City public event to discuss delayed Occupied Territories Bill

A public event will take place in the city later today (Thursday April 23) to discuss delays to the Occupied Territories Bill.

The Bill would ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements, but remains in limbo despite being first proposed eight years ago.

The event is organised by Galway Alliance Against War and will also discuss Israel's recent enactment of the death penality for those convicted of terrorism.

The public meeting takes place at Aras Ui Chathail at University of Galway at 7 this evening

Speakers will include Senator Frances Black, and a legal advisor from non-profit organisation Law for Palestine.

Foreign Affairs Minister Helen McEntee is defending the pace at which the Bill is progressing.
