Concerns raised over transparency of city social housing lists

Concerns are being raised over an alleged lack of transparency when it comes to Galway City Council's social housing list.

At a meeting last night, Councillor Frank Fahy said in some cases, people on the waiting list for years seem to be going down the list rather than up.

Council management denied there's anything untoward, but cautioned there are sub-categories within the social housing list, with different needs and priorities.

It was agreed that a meeting will be held in the near future between city staff and councillors to discuss the social housing lists and the broader system.
