Connemara tourist hotspot houses priced at 2 to 3 times more than rural Galway average

Houses for sale in tourist hotspots in Connemara are priced at 2 to 3 times more than comparable houses in rural Galway.

The areas include Roundstone and Ballyconneely .

Property analysts say that 3 bedroom houses in rural areas, away from large towns in County Galway are going, on average, at between €180,000 and €200,000.

However comparable sized houses are on sale at prices ranging from €645,000 to €795,000 in Errisbeg in Roundstone, and a 2 bedroom house in Inishnee in Roundstone is priced at €495,000.

The asking price for a 3 bedroom house in Bunown in Ballyconneely is €575,000, and a seven bedroom house in Derrygimbla in Ballyconneely is on sale at €1,750,000 just now.

Those prices are away outside the range of most local people but, on the plus side, the holiday homes bring a lot of visitors to Connemara, as happened in the past week, giving tourism a mid-winter boost.
