County councillors put pressure on city council to restore cash pay-and-display parking

Pressure is once again being mounted on the City Council to restore cash pay-and-display parking.

This time the matter was raised at County Hall, with Ballinasloe Councillor Declan Geraghty criticising the system.

Payment for parking in the city has been a major talking point over the past year, with payment now done on the Galway City Parking app, over the phone, or at a Payzone shop.

A report on the new system is due in August, after city councillors agreed to a six-month grace period to allow new signage and communication efforts to bed in.
