The Dáil has heard of the immense challenges facing a young Oranmore woman who is battling an extremely rare disease.
23 year old Aoife Quinn has Friedrich’s Ataxia, a rare genetic disease that causes a range of neurological symptoms which worsen over time.
She's one of just around 200 people in Ireland living with the condition.
There is promising medication that can slow the progression of the disease, but it's not yet available through the HSE.
Raising the matter, Galway East Sinn Fein TD Louis O' Hara argued there's no excuse for the severe delays.
