Dáil hears Galway medical card holders told to travel to other counties for dental work

The Dáil has heard it's not good enough that medical card holders in Galway are being told to travel to other counties for dental work.

Local Sinn Fein TD Mairead Farrell said not a single dental practice across Galway is taking on new patients with medical cards.

The problem has been highlighted for years - with the number of dentists on the Dental Treatment Service Scheme falling rapidly over recent years.

And Deputy Farrell said everyone deserves access to dental treatment when they need it
