Dáil hears Galway woman had to wait 3 months for cancer treatment

The Dáil has heard that a Galway woman who discovered she had cancer was forced to wait three months for public treatment.

That's according to Deputy Mairead Farrell, who told the chamber it's in stark contrast to the HSE target of beginning treatment within 15 days.

She further outlined how last year, a total of 141 cancer patients at UHG were waiting longer than 15 days for their first chemotherapy treatment.

Sinn Fein Deputy Farrell said there appears to be a "postcode lottery" and it's not acceptable.
