There's a sense of dismay at the installation of a new telecommunications mast beside schools in Doughiska.
Local councillor Alan Cheevers says the 20m tower is visually very stark, right at the entrance to Merlin Woods Primary and Secondary Schools.
Originally refused by city planners, the mast was approved by An Bord Pleanala on appeal.
The matter was discussed at City Hall last night, with several councillors wondering how it was approved in its current form.
