Just shy of one million euro in funding is being awarded to University of Galway for the development of an AI-powered flood forecasting project.
The decision-making system will use data to help emergency managers and communities prepare for and respond to flood threats more effectively.
The StopFloods team is led by the University's Dr Indiana Olbert and Dr Thomas McDermott, along with Dr Ciaran Broderick of Met Éireann
They have won the Digital for Resilience Challenge prize category, which is funded by the EU's Rcovery and Resilience Facility.
