Over €1m in parking charges was collected at UHG and Merlin Park Hospital last year.
At the HSE Health Forum this week, it was outlined how this money is used to fund vital services that would overwise come from the hospitals operating budget.
As well as covering the upkeep of parking facilities, it also accommodates the free shuttle bus service between UHG and Merlin Park.
It's available to staff and patients between 7am and 11pm, Monday to Friday.
