Funding of more than €25m has been awarded to five medtech projects involving Galway companies.
It's the latest allocation under the Government's Disruptive Technologies Fund.
€7.2m has been awarded to a consortium involving Oranmore-based Mirai Medical and University of Galway.
It'll fund the PIONEER project - which is aiming to significantly enhance the screening and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.
€6.6m will support the RECAP project, which involves city-based CrannMed and University of Galway.
They're developing minimally invasive treatments for chronic musculoskeletal pain.
A further €6.3m has been allocated to Heal Asystant, led by Spiddal-based Feeltect Limited and University of Galway -
Its an AI assisted self-management support system for compression therapy.
Next, €3.3m will help a consortium including city-based Rockfield Medical Devices to develop their project known as SmartMobility CNM - which is a continual monitoring system for all enter al feeding systems.
Finally, €2.9m has been awarded to a project involving Spiddal-based Aran Biomedical Teoranta.
They're developing a percutaneous solution to repair inguinal hernias without the need for surgery.
