€3.5 million announced for rural water services in Galway

Over €3.5 million in funding has been announced for rural water services across Galway.

29 projects in the region have been granted funding - with allocations ranging from €6,000 to €600,000.

The grants aim to improve the quality, quantity and reliability of water services in rural areas.

The funding is part of the Multi-Annual Rural Water Programme - with more than €47 million granted nationally for 256 projects.

The top allocation in Galway is the Claren Road in Headford, which is to receive over €600,000 for upgrades to wastewater connections.

Belclare Group Water Scheme has been allocated €462,000 to improve the water quality.

€400,000 is ringfenced for the amalgamation of the Roo and Seehan scheme into the Tierneevin scheme.

While the Lisany Liskeavy, Clough Cummer and Glenamaddy Group Schemes will all receive over €200,000 to address quality deficiency
