€30,000 Cocaine Seizure in Tuam As Part of Operation Tara

Gardaí have seized €30,000 worth of suspected cocaine following a number of searches in Tuam as part of Operation Tara.

Shortly before 5pm yesterday evening, members of the Galway Divisional Drugs unit, assisted by the Tuam Crime Unit, stopped and searched a vehicle on the outskirts of the town.

Cocaine worth in the region of €20,000 was found in the vehicle while a follow up search at a house in the town saw gardai locate a further €10,000 worth of suspected cocaine.

A man in his early 20s was arrested and questioned at Tuam Garda Station.

He has since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
