€640k funding to protect 7 Galway archaeological monuments

Funding of €640 thousand has been announced to go towards the protection of 7 archaelogical monuments across Galway.

The biggest beneficiares are Menlough Castle and St. Nicholas Collegiate Church are both to receive €130 thousand.

A further €120 thousand has been allocated towards supporting Ballinasloe Bawn Walls.

€100 thousand each has been awarded to Kilcooley Church and Graveyard and Killora Church and Graveyard, while €30 thousand will go to Castlehacket Tower House.

Finally, €28 thousand will support surveys to identify what works and measures are needed at Corofin Castle.
