Election candidates urged to prioritise new UHG cancer centre

All candidates in the upcoming Galway West by-election should make a planned new cancer centre at UHG a top priority.

That's according to city councillor Alan Cheevers who last night missed out to County Councillor Cillian Keane on the Fianna Fáil nomination to run in the May election

Cllr Cheevers is himself a cancer survivor and a strong advocate for improved services.

A new Cancer Care Centre at UHG is included as a proposal in the HSE’s Capital Plan for 2026.
