Engineering consultants say a one-way system for the Old Galway Road is the preferred option to address delays at the traffic lights in Loughrea.
However, the County Council has stressed that this does not necessarily mean it will proceed with the suggestion, and the conversation still continues.

Systra, who manage the lights, recommended against installing a roundabout, which was being considered, due to safety and cost concerns.
