EU Presidency funding has been announced for a number of Galway projects.
Ireland assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in a few weeks time on July 1st.
Just under 70,000 euro has been allocated to Galway organisations and local authorities under the 2026 Communicating Europe Initiative.
Nationally, three quarters of a million euro has been awarded to 112 organisations and local authorities under the initiative.
The Galway projects include the All Ireland Endorsement Body for Community Work in Headford, Cuan Beo Environment CLG, Talamh Beo Loughrea, Ballinderreen Community Centre Kilcolgan, University of Galway, Galway Public Libraries and Integration Galway County Council.
The funding aims to support community engagement, education, environmental awareness and inclusion initiatives linked to Ireland's Presidency.
Junior Minister and Galway East TD Sean Canney says this funding will help communities engage more closely with Europe and better understand the opportunities that come with Ireland's membership of the European Union.
