It's been revealed that a complex flood defense scheme planned for Galway City is now facing significant further delays and costs.

The defences would run from the Blackrock area of Salthill to Lough Atalia.

The scheme is known as Coirib go Cósta - and it was originally expected to be completed in 2030 at a cost of around €50m.

But now, the date has been pushed out to 2033 - while the estimated cost has risen to €80m.
