Galway West TD for Fianna Fáil John Connolly says it will 'take time' to rebuild public confidence in the party.
His assertion follows reports that Fianna Fáil is struggling to find people to canvass for the upcoming Galway West By-election with Oranmore/Athenry Councillor Cillian Keane running for the party.
It follows fallout from the Government's handling of the recent fuel protests, which led to Kerry TD Michael Healy Rae resigning from his ministry and supporting the no confidence vote.
According to the Daily Mail, Deupty Connolly sent out 30 emails looking for canvassers last week, and only 4 replied, two of whom were party employees.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm News, Deputy Connolly says the information reported in the newspaper is not fully accurate.
