The Town Hall Theatre in Galway and Women for Election will host a film series celebrating the power and impact of women.
It's aim is to highlight how women have affected change across the world, with the hopes of inspiring more women into politics.
The series opens this Saturday May 9th with a screening of The Day Iceland Stood Still - documenting the day in 1975 when all women in Iceland went on strike.
The screenings are free of charge, but advance booking is required at the Town Hall Theatre website.
The film screenings will be hosted by Councillor Mary Hoade, Councillor Helen Ogbu and the Galway Women’s Caucus.
“Women are the drivers of extraordinary change, in politics and in society. "
"This film series shows what great good can happen when women have an equal opportunity to reach political office,” said Brian Sheehan, CEO of Women for Election.
