Five arson attacks on social homes in Galway City cost Council €336,000

Five arson attacks which have occurred on social homes in Galway City since 2022 have cost the council nearly €340,000.

The figures provided to the Irish Times only account for council owned housing, and not private properties.

Nationally, 50 such incidents were reported last year, with 35 of those happening in Dublin.

The last five years have seen 14 local authorities report 113 fire bomb attacks.
