Dr Mike Ryan, former Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organisation will deliver the keynote address at tomorrow's COPE Galway 60th anniversary commemoration.
Former President of Ireland Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina who's a Patron of COPE Galway will also be special guests at the gatherin in Druid Theatre in the city.
Through a combination of speakers and panel discussions, the event will reflect on six decades of community impact.
Founded in December 1965 as the Galway Social Services Council, COPE began as a volunteer-led initiative providing Meals on Wheels to older people in the city.
It has since grown into one of Ireland’s leading social service organisations, now supporting more than 3,000 people each year through a range of homeless, domestic abuse and senior support services.
