Funding has been announced for ongoing excavation works at the site of ancient Neolithic tombs in Maree, Oranmore.
The Prospecthill court tomb on the Maree Peninsula dates back to between 3500 and 3700BC.
The large stones of the monument were removed in the 1960s, and efforts are now focusing on what exactly lies beneath the site.
A boost of €25 thousand has been announced by the Royal Irish Academy towards the project.
Noel McCarthy, director of the excavation explains how it will help.
