Funding has been secured for a lifeguard at Banagher outdoor pool on the Galway/Offaly border.
Councillor Alan Harney says both Galway and Offaly County Councils are funding a service for the summer months.
Although named the Banagher outdoor pool, the amenity is actually located on the Galway side of the border.
It's been in use for several decades, though a major overhaul was completed in recent months.
