A Galway city native on board a global aid flotilla has escaped capture

It's claimed 4 Irish nationals have been detained by Israeli forces after the flotilla was intercepted.

They were among a group of over 175 activists taken from the Sumud Flotilla which was attempting to reach Gaza.

The Israeli Defence Force says they are now 'making their way peacefully' to Israel on board a military vessel

Sligo GP Margaret Connolly, who's originally from Shantalla and is President Connolly's sister, is on another of the boats which was not intercepted.

Margaret says they were approached in international waters
