Over 3,140 people have been caught speeding during a major safety crackdown over the Bank Holiday weekend.
They include a Galway motorist doing 120km per hour in an 80km/h zone on the R458 in Caherpeak East in Kilcolgan and another doing 90km/h in a 60 zone on the L3408, Killure More in Ballinasloe
Gardaí will remain out in force until tomorrow, as part of their dedicated Roads Policing operation.
So far, more than 140 people have been arrested for drink or drug-driving - while more than 340 drivers were caught holding a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt.
