The Galway West by-election will be held on either May 15th or 22nd.
That's according to The Daily Mail, which reports the two by-elections - for Galway West and Dublin Central - will take place at the end of the legally permitted six-month time-frame to fill Dáil seats.
The seats were left vacant in Galway after Independent Galway West TD Catherine Connolly was elected president, and in Dublin when Fine Gael TD Paschal Donohoe resigned.
There are now seven confirmed candidates for the Galway West ticket - Independent Ireland Cllr Noel Thomas, Independent Cllr Tom Welby, Niall Murphy of the Green Party, Independent Sheila Garrity from Knocknacarra, Labour City Cllr Helen Ogbu, for Social Democrats, Connemara's Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich and city primary school teacher Orla Nugent for Aontú.
Meanwhile the Fine Gael nomination process has opened, and will remain open until this day week - Thursday February 12th.
