Local TD Mairéad Farrell will this evening host the Galway city launch of a book on public housing written by her Sinn Féin colleague Eoin Ó Broin
The book explores the public housing work of Dublin Corporation’s first housing architect, Herbert Simms in the 1930s.
It highlights how he delivered 17,000 public housing units, clearing inner-city slums and providing modern homes during a severe housing crisis.
The Galway launch will take place at 7:30 this evening at the Mechanics Institude on Middle street and Eoin Ó Broin, who is the Sinn Féin spokesperson on housing outlines what Galway can learn from the book:
