Galway's first Dog Park still on the cards at Galway City Council - but could be years away

A potential dog park in Galway City is still on the cards - but the City Council is advising it's still years away.

At a meeting at City Hall, Councillor Terry O' Flaherty said such a facility would be a no brainer and would be hugely popular.

Staff advised that the only publicly-owned dog parks in the country are in Dublin, where there's ample access to spacious public parks.

But they said despite a number of potential hurdles - like location and cost - the proposal will be looked into, using a park in Cork as a possible reference point.

Independent Councillor O' Flaherty says keen to ensure it's kept on the agenda.
