Galway's two third level institutions to share 12 million euro state allocation

Galway's two third level institutions are to equally share a state allocation of just over 12 million euro.

Atlantic Technological University is to get 6.2 million euro while University of Galway will receive 6 million.

It's part of a national allocation of €80 million in capital funding for higher education institutions.

Higher Education Minister Patrick O’Donovan says the money is to be used for research equipment and infrastructure upgrades.

One of the aims is to help colleges to respond to climate objectives.

Minister O’Donovan says this grant will support them in making energy efficiency and decarbonisation upgrades.
