Garda warning over "pushy" trades people operating in city

Gardaí are warning over "pushy" or "over-priced" trades people offering a range of services in the city and Salthill areas.

They say they've received considerable reports of unsolicited offers - ranging from power washing and gutter cleaning to tree cutting services.

And while offering a service is not a crime, Gardaí are concerned around the pressure being exerted on the public in some cases.

In particular, they're asking the public to keep an eye out for vulnerable or elderly neighbours, and advise them not to engage with trades people randomly turning up to offer services.

Anyone needing work done is encouraged to do so by recommendation, and not through pressure from unsolicited callers.

And if you have any concerns about such people calling to their home, you're encouraged to report these approaches to Gardaí.
